Office 2003 update failed with 0x80070643 even after svc restart..

Hi,

For quite a while now all my Office 2003 updates have failed with error
0x80070643 . I followed the instructions in the Knowledge Base 903774 to
restart the OSE service to no avail. Is there another trick I should try?

Office 2003 Update fails to install with error 0x80070643

You receive error 0x80070643 when you are installing Office 2003 Updates. Updates
fail to install because ose service is disabled or cannot be started. Applicable
Office versions: Office 2003

If you disable the Ose.exe file, Microsoft Office updates do not install when you use
Microsoft Windows Server Update Services or the Microsoft Update Web site to deploy
software updates and hotfixes to computers in the organization

Well it appears you're done everything regarding the OSE but did you try removing and
then reinstalling Office 2003.
Method 3: Remove and then reinstall Office 2003
