I recently bought a new laptop with Vista. I loaded my old Office 2003 and
now each time I save in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. it is really slow and I
get a "Not Responding" message and wants to shut down. If I wait, eventually
it will save. Very frustrating! I have loaded Office Update SP-3 (last
September) and it doesn't help. Thanks for any advice you can give me!!!

Hi:
I've been using Word 2000, since I got a brand PC with Vista.

I have NO issue running Word 2000, as if it's a new version of Word.

It might be other programs, Excel and Power Point makes slow-down in
the Computer.

Have you tried repairing your installation of Office or reinstall the suite
to see if it will fix the problem?

What folder are you saving to?
Is it on an internal hard drive, an external drive, or network?

I use Office 2003 (Word, Excel, Publisher), and experience no problems

Thank you all for your help. Yes, I was saving to a network drive. I
actually solved the problem. My laptop was using my wireless connection
instead of the LAN connection. Even though I selected the LAN, I had to
disable my wireless to get back to the saving "speed" I was used to.

Even though I've grown to like Office 2007, on one of
my Vista machines I still have Office 2003 installed,
and it is so much faster than Office 2007... at everything.
