Vista and Office 2007 working fine.
Office 2007 stopped working after downloaded OpenOffice (not used).
Now Word sometimes open in safe mode, and others not at all. Excel no
longer works. Finally, the documents folder fails to respond. So no
access to all documents and major files. HORRIBLE NIGHTMARE. Please
help!

Use System Restore to go back to a point prior to when you carried out
downloads/modifications.

You should be able to do a repair install of Microsoft Office, that
should fix the problem, without having to do clean install.

Hello, can someone please assist me?

I have recently bought a laptop which already has got Vista installed and
for work purposes, i need to install MS Office. Will my version MS Office
2004 XP work will Vista or do i need to install a different MS Office for
Vista?

Much appreciate your response.

Rgds,

Shel B

I tried the repair install but it didn't work. The clean install is the only
thing that works for me BUT when Vista Auto updates itself (whenever I go
online) the problem returns, (Oh god NO, here we go AGAIN another Office
install... Grrrrr)
-- Yes your'e right it is a NIGHTMARE; Not only that, but a roller coaster
of emotions.

Every time I upgrade Microsoft Windows it makes me feel that I am wasting my
life sitting at a computer that I would rather live without.
A couple of retorical questions
Why do we keep doing it to ourselves?
Yeah why don't we storm the palace and off with the tyrants heads?

You have Office 2007 working "OK" and then "...downloaded OpenOffice (not
used)..." - "not used" does not mean not installed.

You followed up by getting rid of OpenOffice and/or did a System Restore??

My guess would be that this is totally unrelated to the fact that you
downloaded OpenOffice.org. Most likely even that you downloaded
anything.

My recommendation: Get memtest86 and check your memory. Most likely it
is faulty. Happended to my six weeks old Laptop and Gateway exchanged
the mem chip w/o much questions asked.

If it is not the memory, reinstall Vista (ouch) and see if the system
becomes stable again. If not send it in to the hardware vendor.

Good luck,

K<o>
