Office 2007 SP1 Update??

I've seen one post about this but the answer doesn't make sense, so let me
ask it my way.

I have a Dell laptop with Vista Home Premium edition, it's about 5 months
old. I bought it from Dell with Vista pre-installed, and without Microsoft
Office 2007. The other thread suggested the questioner might have Office
2003 Web Components. That is not listed in my list of installed programs.
I've never installed ANY version of Microsoft Office on this system.

I. Don't. Own. The. Product. Why, then, was I offered the SP1 update as
a high-priority update?? Furthermore, why should the service pack load and
run (which it did) if the product it's supposed to update isn't there??

This makes no sense.

Are any Office 2007 "viewers" installed?

find out?

They'd be listed in Add/Remove Programs.

Then I don't think I do have - I'll look again, but when I checked Add/Remove
Programs this morning there was nothing that began with "Office", and nothing
that began with "Microsoft" except Expression Web.

I wouldn't be surprised to learn that Expression Web is the culprit.

Hopefully you'll get other replies from the experts in Office Update
newsgroup.

Expression Web is probably triggering it - install the O2007 SP1 Update - it
will only install the parts it needs for EW or download the SP1 direct for E

OK, I buy Expression Web as the source - I did tell it to check for updates.
I just don't think of Expression Web as part of Office... but then, I never
thought of FrontPage as part of Office either, and I've seen posts here that
indicate it clearly is. You learn something every day!

Thanks for the feedback.

SP1 for Office 2007 also has the SP1 updates for Expression Web
Designer, but only the updates for Expression Web Sp1 would be downloaded.

If you had Office 2007, you would know about it as the download is about
800 megs.

Expression Web has uses some shared components of Office 2007, so it's
only downloading those applicable components needed for Expression Web,
e.g. I believe Office 2007 and Expression Web use common elements like
the spell-checker (dictionary files and such) and other components; that
would also be used by Office 2007 if you had that installed, hence it
triggers that auto-update.
