I did the recommended critical updates and the optional updates. Now Word
and Excell will not open files. With Excell it gives the message "File not
available" and with Word it says "Unable to read file xxxxxxx".
I can run either progam and start a new document which seems to be fully
functional. But after I save the document I can not re-open it. When I go
to close Word I get a message "File Normal already exists do you want to
replace it?"

I have updates thru SP3

I have Office 2002
