Office update failures

I am attempting to install six required MS Office updates (KB 954464,
KB955439, KB948988, KB955434, KB921598, and KB951548), but I keep getting
error message 0x80070643.

I am certain that the ose.exe service is turned on. I also know that I can
install certain updates, just not these six particular ones (which appear to
all be Ofice-related), because I just installed a number of optional updates
successfully.

I just finished an entirely unhelpful online chat session with a Microsoft
tech support employee who had no answer for the problem other than to call a
phone number, which I am hoping I don't have to do because of the possibility
that Microsoft will charge my organization money.

Does anyone have any ideas of what the problem could be? I greatly
appreciate any help you can provide...

Also, I am running Windows XP Professional, Version 2002, with Service Pack 3
installed. I am sorry for not supplying that information in my previous
post--my fault. Also, I have read the online help post available here:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/903772 which seems to indicate that my last,
best option is to re-install Office (I have already performed both Methods 1
and 2, and neither have fixed my problem). I am hoping to avoid a complete
re-install, but if that is all that is left to me, I would appreciate someone
here letting me know.

Thank you in advance!

[Just looked that one up!]

You receive an "Error 80070643" error message when you try to update Office
2003...

Using a registry cleaner has been known to cause this problem with office
updates. Have you used one recently?

Hi Sam,
My IT colleague, re-installed the MS Office and I succeed to download and
install all the problematic updates.

This did the trick for me, I restored the backup from ensuing registry
cleaner and then tried to install the updates again, they installed just fine.
