Office Updates break Tiff file associations

It seems like every time we push office updates about 25% of our computers
lose their tiff File association. Does anyone know why this happens? I'm
having a hard time fixing it. We can't use a reg fix because we don't have a
standard tif viewer. Right now we are having to touch every machine to fix
it.

Any thoughts/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

What is file type TIFF associated with now (and before the issue occurred on
the majority of the systems)?

more information...I just checked and the machines that are broken are Office
2003 SP3.

Hi Shenan,

Right now there is no association. When they click tiff it asks them which
program they would like to view the file with. Before the SP update the tiff
files would open in MODI.

an Office issue? Its the update that is breaking the file assocation?

Specifically:
TIF, TIFF, and MDI files are no longer associated with Microsoft Office
Document Imaging (MODI) after you install Office 2003 Service Pack 3 or
certain post-SP3 security bulletins
