Office XP and Vista

I just bought a new PC with Windows Vista Home Premium.
To load MS office I had to start with my original 1997 programme, this
loaded fine.
The when I tried to upgrade it to the XP version, the PC showed the Office
XP set up box, and said it was installing Office, but it sticks there and
does nothing. (It's been running for over an hour) This happened once before
and I aborted it. How can I get it to load?

You can get it to load by uninstalling all the Office 97 and all Office files that
you have already installed or tried to install
Then start the installation of Office XP and when it asks for a qualifying product
then insert the Office 97 CD as proof for the Product Update.
