Office XP updates fail- don't have it?

I have Microsoft Update turned on, in update history, it shows many Office XP
failed updates. I have Office 2003, not XP.
Why does it try to do the XP updates?

perhaps because the origonal installation of officexp included apps not
included with your version of office2003
Perhaps also look at the history to see what particular app it is attempting
to update

Office Update offers updates for Office programs that you do not have installed
