Offline contacts list outdated

It appears to me that when I terminate the application, to later on launch it
and sign in, the stats of all contacts in the offline list is reset to a
point beyond 47 days ago or so, as of today (I can tell because a contact in
the list, who had her birthday March 28th, had put a countdown in her name -
which still says '30 days left' when I sign in and she's offline...). This
applies for everyone who haven't been online during a session. When they
eventually sign in, their name will update to the present and - apparently -
also stay that way after signing out; but only during that session...

If I remember right, it was also around this time that I finally decided to
upgrade from MSNM to WLM...

Sounds like your contact store has gone a bit screwy.

You can try the resolution posted on this blog entry to 'reset' your contact
store (note that the issue described doesn't match your observations, but
the fix is the same).

I shut down messenger, deleted the regkey, re-launched messenger and signed
in... Nothing had changed... I also asked a friend to sign out and let me
shut down and sign in once again, before he came back online, to see if that
would refresh his stats in the offline contacys list; didn't work either...

On a sidenote: I just figured it doesn't matter if you terminate the
application or not, as long as you just sign out...

I just noticed something interesting according to this issue: Earlier today
at school I decided to sign in to web messenger, just to see who was online.
When I came home today and signed in, I decided to check upon the offline
list to see if there was any change; and... it was..! Apparently, the
contacts who were online when I signed in to the web messenger, of whom are
offline now, have been updated... Could this make the issue related to my
computer? I've already tried to reinstall WLM; nothing changed...

....or maybe a reboot was all it required; the offline contact list seems to
be updating now as everyone signs in... I guess that means the deletion of
the registry key worked after all. Time will tell...

Thanks Gary!

Sorry for QUINTUPLE posting(!); this has really turned into a great mess by
now; but I noticed that a guy's name, who I last saw online yester day,
hasn't changed after all, so I suppose that the other names updated after I
signed in to the web messenger on the school PC the other day...

Bah. This is leading nowhere... Help?
