Offline messaging not working more often

Hi
I'm using the version 8.1 Beta of Windoes Live Messenger at the moment
(Build 8.1.0105.00_ClientV8.1) and I often can't get messages to send to
people who are offline or appearing offline. This function worked far more
reliably when I wasn't using the beta version. Is there a reason for this?

I think it's been rather lousy reliability-wise beta or non-beta recently. Seems to be
functioning at this exact moment though although messaging was entirely down earlier this
morning.

Is this an issue which is being worked on as offline messaging is great but
very very frustrating when it doesn't work!
