Hi,

If I do not have Internet connection, so I am not able to log in to my
messenger account, can I still view who are my contacts and message history
without logging in to the Messenger Live?

Is there any progam to import the contacts and message history to my another
machine messenger live?

Thank You!

Greetings Storm,

I'm afraid not, you need to be logged into the service with an Internet connection to see
your contacts.

You can still see your message history by going directly into the folder and opening the
files directly. You can find out the folder by logging in, clicking the Tools menu (or Alt-T
if the menu is hidden), then Options, then Messages category and note the location of "Save
my conversations in this folder".

You don't need to import your contacts, just log into your account from another machine and
all your contacts will be there as they are stored on the server. To move your message
history over just move the folder as located above to the one on the new machine.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.

I notice that the contacts files are actually stored in the following
location:
"C:\Documents and Settings\user\Contacts\"
Is that true?

However its seemed to be encrypted.
Is there a way to interpret those files?

Thank You!

Hi,

No, they are purposely encrypted so that malware can't get at your contacts.

In the next version of Messenger these files are actually gone too.
