Hi,
As per the normal problem I am getting this error message but when I use the
troubleshooting option and try to follow the steps for deleting the data
store in step 2 I get stuck when it suggests renaming the file - I know how
to rename files but in this instance it is not clear - I right click on
Automated Updates and select stop but I cannot seem to rename the
file.....please please help - I know this is a long drawn problem on this
newsgroup but I do not seem to find an answer that I understand

Did you see KB883821 (
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=883821 )?

There are several resolutions there for this problem

I hope this helps.

Thanks Craig,
I had tried following steps one and two for this error given in
troubleshooting - however step 2 was not fully user friendly - however, I did
find a solution given on earlier newsgroup entries:-

Click on Start -> run -> type command "cmd" and command prompt will appear.

It worked for me - although anyone choosing this method has to understand
that I just had to trust this information given. I am using WinXP.
For those using WinXP Pro - please read other newletter entries.

Murphy,

I think you were looking at the wrong section for your error.

Here is a snippet from that article (KB883821) :

*************************************************
0x80248011 error code

To resolve this error, clear the Microsoft Internet Explorer cache. To do
this, follow these steps:

1. Start Internet Explorer.

2. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.

3. Click the General tab.

4. In the Temporary Internet files section, click Delete Cookies.

5. In the Delete Cookies box, click OK.

6. Click Delete Files.

7. Click to select the Delete all offline content check box in the Delete
Files dialog box, and then click OK.

8. In the History section, click Clear History.

9. Click Yes, and then click OK.

I'm glad you did locate another solution.
