Like most everyone here I have had troubles with the error 0X8DDD0004. A
co-worker and I tried a few trick but nothing worked.
Then we tried the following:
1. Find the update WindowsXP-KB842773-v2-x86-enu.exe
2. Load it first. Doesn't matter if you have SP1 or SP2 installed or
any update
installed. Just install it first.
3. Reboot the PC and sign back in with Admin rights
4. Run up-dates again. Now it took some time to bring up the updates
but they
came up after 4 minutes.
Kind of a backward way to do thing but it works great here. Best of luck to
