A I predicted even before RTM was released vista is a horrible flop.
Am I right??? I am right, of course as with everything I have said about
vista.

No one wants it, small retails are stripping it from machines and installing
XP
again as I predicted,
the big retails cant do that much because MS is holding them by the
balloons...
however consumer pressure is forcing MS to continue to offer XP...

AS I PREDICTED, everyone hates vista, and no one wants it...

And this is what you can see from the press... I can see it all around me,
people don't like vista, they format it and use XP, or dual boot and forget
vista...

The only fans are some diehard pathetic loser vista boys that infest this
newsgroup with their propaganda. The MVPs? They do their usual mud throwing,
blaming the user always for everything...

VISTA IS GOING DOWN, and it will do so much disaster to Microsoft that no
one would ever been able to do, not Linux, not macOS. Its as if Microsoft
wanted to commit suicide and said, lets make the most CRAPPY os that ever
was!
And lets call it VISTA! Vista is totally YUK!

The people that like vista are the ones that have NEW computers or Core
2 Duo computers with 512MB Video cards. Some others that have high-end
workstations with fast video cards also like vista.

Most people that have used XP and not been compromised have no need for
Vista and don't like it.

Every customer I have has requested that we not get Vista, and I agree
with them - telling them to get a computer that is fully capable of
running Vista, but to get XP Prof instead.

My own father just bought a Quad Core System and a fast video card and
loaded the 64bit version of Vista and he's enjoying it, although living
with several pains that he didn't have in XP, but it seems like such a
waste of power to install Vista when XP still provides all that is
needed that was promised in Vista.

I agree with some of the points you make about Vista and also
about how some defend Microsoft no matter what.

However, I don't hate Vista and I don't think it sucks, and I'm
certainly not part of "some diehard pathetic loser vista boys".

Hate is really a strong word to use when applied to Vista-
it's just an operating system.... a piece of software, that's all.
Who really has that much time and energy to hate code?

My biggest problem with Vista, is feeling quite underwhelmed
by the whole thing. The silly EULA and the "piracy" protection
mechanisms are lame, too. It does *not* stop the pirates.
I actually have Vista working well on three machines and I've grown
used to it. Do I see anything in Vista that makes for a needed or
compelling upgrade? Absolutely not. Do I think it's too expensive?
Yes. Are there problems with Vista? Yes!
If someone were to ask me if they should use Vista or XP, at this
point in time, I would say stick with XP.

Why do I have Vista? Because that's the way I am. I generally like
to use the latest stuff.... that can actually be a weakness, I know.
I really just got used to it after using it most of the time since
June 2006. It wasn't smooth sailing, but I did work through the
problems. I would never use an OS on my primary machines that
I didn't feel was stable enough. For me and three machines, Vista
does fine... really. There are some things I still do not like, but I've
dealt with those issues for the most part.

I do understand why a lot of folks are upset, Microsoft did not live up
to the expectations they helped create. Far too long in the making to
offer an OS that many folks at best describe as "almost as fast as XP, just
about as good as XP."

Not true.
While the sales of Vista have not been as high as originally predicted the
sales figures are still healthy. IN terms both OEM and corporate sales as
well as end user individual purchases.

You really need to not use such sweeping generalizations - there is no way
you can actually say "no one wants it". There are millions of users of
Vista out there, many consciously upgraded an businesses are deploying it in
their thousands. I for one can absolutely say that the customer I am working
with are deploying many thousand of seats on Vista for sound business and
technical reasons.

> AS I PREDICTED, everyone hates vista, and no one wants it...

Again there you go with the totally pointless "everyone". As with all
product so people like it some do not. But your level of generalization is
too great and therefore pretty meaningless as anything other then your usual
anti Vista rants.

Some press, not all and your small circle of acquaintances is not
statistically significant to allow you to again generalize so heavily.

Ah, just throwing insults now you have no real case to make or more
importantly help to provide to those that come to this peer to peer support
newsgroups seeking assistance. maybe if you have no help to give and only
wish to rant you could find somewhere else to do it other then cluttering up
this group.

Again you lack any real vision of the larger picture - respected analysts
such as Gartner have published figures showing a massive increase in Vista
usage from next year when SP1 ships and then another rise into 2009. So
again you rants do not stand up against professional quality analysts work.

Well if you dislike it so much go use something else and leave this group.
And let us that use it every day and deploy it to thousands of machines that
run day in day out without issue or problem allowing multinational
businesses to work and grow, continue to use the OS and assists others where
we can.

Not true...

the shelf versions of vista are selling nil.
The oem preinstalled versions of vista are selling ONLY because you cannot
get a computer with xp at some stores...

This is how MS always pushes a new version down everyone throats...
And remember there are a lot of computer illiterate people who just get a
computer..they may not even know what vista is until they start the computer
and say.. hey, things are different here....
The salesmen of course when asked what is vista, they will only say, its the
new version of windows, without pointing out all the frustration and dangers
that go with it. They dont because they want to sell computers dahhh....

this is not true sales because people want vista, they are forced sales..
and FYI most people format and install XP or dual boot after they get the
vista machine...

You seem still not convinced.. ok lets wait some more months until more news
trickles in... you cannot remain blind forever, nor can you wish it is not
true that vista is a flop and the issue will just go away. I am not wrong
and you will see.

I asked two owners of two franchises that are national chains in Spain
and over 95% of their computer sales have XP, as requested by the
customer. The other 5% consist of Vista and Linux, specifically Ubuntu.

Vista is a white elephant just like Windows Me and was only pushed out
to generate revenue without any consideration whatsoever for the paying
customer who MS obvious holds in disdain.

On the bright side Ubuntu Gutsy is coming out next month and the BETA
testers tell me it's better than ever!

Exactly! Surprise, I don't hate Vista or Microsoft either, though
you'll always see the same loons doing their best to paint those of us
that speak out FACTUALLY as haters, losers, beginners, etc..

I'm simply sick and tired of a small but unusually vocal yet mostly
clueless fanatics ie fanboys; screaming, yelling and doing their best
to suppress FACTS about how messed up Vista is for SOME users. It
makes no sense and that is what's wrong with this goofy newsgroup.

Yes, for Pete's sake, SOME users have no or few problems. Whoopee for
them, I would guess these are in the minority. The sad FACT is many
users, I dare say most DO have issues ranging from minor annoyances to
full blown disasters that make Vista all but unusable for some. Why in
the hell can't these FACTS be discussed in a calm, reasoned way and
solutions if there are any presented without the loony tune fanboy mob
ending up throwing feces around in every thread like a bunch of rabid
monkeys?

Like it or not the following are FACTS.

1. Vista in it's present state is flawed. Far from a stable OS.
2. Claiming all problems are the user's fault is a red herring.
3. Pretending all problems are driver related is another red herring.
4. Claiming a "clean install" is a cure all is wishful thinking.
5. Painting everyone that speaks out as a Linux fan is disingenuous.
6. Pretending UAC is a benefit is at best simplistic and misguided.
7. Acting like the EULA give Microsoft unlimited rights is insanity.
8. Denying that Microsoft doesn't respect it's customers is laughable.
9. Pretending DRM, activation, piracy protection other mindless
intrusions into privacy including snooping and phoning home is
unethical and delusional.
