I was doing my regular update thing and oh yes those great folk at MS have
decided I need more stuff for updating so I followed the instructions and
waited while it supposedly updated my updater driver (or whatever it was
doing) then clicked on the new and exciting EXPRESS INSTALL (Recommended) and
up popped a progress screen...but instantly it said failed......
The error code is 80070002 and it was trying to download and install pack
code KB842773...I have ZP Pro, I stay regularly updated (4-6 weeks)...
what can be happening and how can I fix it so I can update in the future..
Thanks in advance for your help and appreciate that you answer everyones
questions..keep up the good work

Haydz,

See if this helps resolve the issue :
http://v5.windowsupdate.microsoft.co...cleid=17&ln=en

Delete the contents of the DataStore folder

Stop the Automatic Updates service
Click Start.
Choose Run.
In the Run box, type services.msc.
Click OK.
Right-click the Automatic Updates service.
Click Stop.
Stopping the service will take a moment.

Delete the contents of the DataStore folder

Click Start.
Choose Run.
In the Run box, type %windir%\SoftwareDistribution.
Click OK.
Open the DataStore folder.
Delete all contents of the DataStore folder.
Close the window.

Start the Automatic Updates service
Click Start.
Choose Run.
In the Run box, type services.msc.
Click OK.
Right-click the Automatic Updates service.
Click Start.

I have gotten this identical error after trying to install the update. I have
tried the fix in your link and the same error comes up again. Any other
thoughts?

All that fix does is delete you installation history. I had to cancel during
the update and had the same problem. To get round it, i did the following
and SP@ updated fine afterwards.

Click Start.
Choose Run.
In the Run box, type %windir%\SoftwareDistribution.
Click OK.
Open the Download folder.
Delete all contents of the Download folder showing the date that your FIRST
installation failed.
Close the window.

Run windows update and SP2 should install OK

THANK YOU! So much for that post. I have been trying to fix that problem
for two days now and your tip was the one that finally fixed the problem.

Hi SPtoo,
When you say to delete the contents of the folder showing the date of the
first failed installation, how do I find that? I have a 4 folders in that
directory, and each one of them has a number of subfolders and files. Is
there a particular filename I can look for? I don't want to delete the wrong
thing.

Thanks,
Kevin

Hi

You can clean out all folder/files in the Download folder,
it should not give you any extra problems.
