A friend has the following problem since yesterday.
Each time he opens WLM, he gets up to 1600 e-mails in his inbox, all
marked as "not read".
He deletes them all, completely, but the next time all these e-mails
come in again. And again, and again...
What is going on??

Is this a Hotmail account or a POP accounf via your friend's ISP?
Is this a newly configured account in Windows Live Mail?
Let's assume that it is a new PC with WLMail connecting using POP/SMTP
to an ISP mail service.
On all PCs that your friend uses to access his mail, go to the
advanced account settings for the account and uncheck the leave a copy
of messages on server settings.

p.s. This newsgroup only exists on servers that don't honor the remove
group message. Microsoft discontinued the nntp newsgroups a few years
back. Help and Support for Windows Live products and services can be

Is this a POP3 account? In Options | Accounts | Mail Account | Properties
| Advanced Tab, uncheck: Leave a copy of messages on the server.

Also, if it is checking for messages, let's say every 5 minutes, and the
messages don't finish downloading in 5 minutes, they will start over from
the beginning, so the minutes may need to be raised temporarily.
