How old must a TV show be in order for it to be in the public domain?

The ago of a show does not necessarily have meaning...

Its not exactly the age. Its the copyright. Once the copyright expired (30
years usually) it can be distributed openly, unless it is renewed by the
original person.

Copyrights extend from the date of publication to 50 (sometimes 70) years
beyond the author's death.

Originally it was a term of 20-something years, with a renewal of
somethingorother. Then (1970s?)it became lifetime of author + 50
years, then +75 years.

Basically it's a mess. You need a forum where people who specialize
in this hang out. Or you need a lawyer.
