Interesting. This has to be something that deals with a new update because it
never happened prior to my current rebuild.
I installed XP/SP2, did all the updates prior to installing programs.
Installed Picture Publisher 10, and it does something to IE6: Won't allow
"open in new window". This incapacitated windows update. I uninstall the
program and the function returns. I have run sfc in full, tried various
tricks, but only uninstalling it makes IE6 (and yes, IE7) completely
functional again. Any ideas? PP10 is my favorite editor and I use it quite a
bit. I would hate to do without it.
Yes, updates up to 6 months ago had no problem with PP10 and IE.

Perhaps the following will explain & resolve your issue:

Problems in Windows Explorer or the Windows shell
after you install Security Update MS06-015
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/918165

Easy Fix: Visit http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm and scroll
down to Item No. 383 "Hewlett-Packard's Share-to-Web software - Fix (MS06-015)"
to download a simple registry fix.
[Direct Patch Download: http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/regs_edits/hp.vbs]

Note: You may need to temporarily disable your antivirus program
in order to safely run the scripted fix.

I looked at the KB article, and tho the problems that it mentions don't seem
to affect the rest of windows functioning. Anyways, I tried the KB
suggestions. No go. I followed your suggestiong. No go. I even uninstalled
the questionable update. No go.

Seems like there is more at stake here, because in my methodology, this
really only affects IE for some reason. Very odd indeed. Thanks for your
suggestions tho.

Hi,

The problem you're having with Picture Publisher 10 Pro and Internet
Explorer is a known issue that is easily fixed. The problem is caused by a
system change that is made when PP10PRO is installed. The patch file you
need is IEREGFIX.EXE and it will repair the problem. You can find the patch
on the Yahoo Picture Publisher group in the files section (you have to join
the group to gain access to the files section)
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/picture-publisher/files/

My username on the group is "trgtc1d".

Take Care,

Jon
