Hi,

Iam logged on as admin, and when I try to start some programs vista says i
cn't start it because I have no amin-rights. but when I click with the right
mouse button on the program icon I want to start and click on "start as
admin" the program works "fine" - is there a possibility that vista
"remembers" that i am logged n as admin and allows me to start those programs
without right mouselick? Why is it so difficult that older XP programs don't
work easily on vista? what's the problem?

thx for the answers.

If my understanding is correct, the security model for Vista is different
from what we're used to.

Specifically there's an Administrator *account* that sits above and
untouchable by any other account. You can grant a login account (like your
own) Administrator rights, but even those accounts don't have the full rights
that "the" Administrator account has.

When you're trying to run these older programs, and Vista is requiring
Administrator permission it basically needs you (a person with Admin rights)
to allow THE Administrator account to permit the program.

To answer your question, there is, indeed, an option that will allow a
program to always Run as Administrator.

Right-click on the executable, choose "Properties", and open the
Compatibility tab. At the bottom of that tab is a checkbox to "Always Run as
Administrator". Check that and you should see fewer popups.
