OLE.fix isn't fixing 896688

After realizing that 89668 messed everything up, I uninstalled it, but my
activex still won't work (as well as Macromedia Flash Player). I reinstalled
the 896688, and tried the ole.fix, but when I double click on it and it
should give me something to say YES to,all it does is open the notebook pad
again.
I'm not very savvy when it comes to the registry, so any detailed help would
be appreciated.
I'm running XP with SP2.

Hm, did you unzip the olefix.zip file and double clicked the ole_fix.reg
file contained in the ZIP file?

Yes, I did unzip it and double clicked on the file, but it just opened
it without asking me anything. What I ended up doing was uninstalling all of
the updates since 10/22/05, about 7 of them, and that has temporarily fixed
the issues with ActiveX and Macromedia. I plan on reinstalling them one at a
time until I identify the problem update. After that I'm not sure, but I'm
sure everyone on here will be very helpful.

Okay, then go to "Start -> Run", type "regedit.exe" in there and
hit the [Enter] key or click "OK". This will start the registry
editor. In the registry editor click on "File" in the main menu
and choose "Import". Search for the "OLE_fix.reg" file, mark it
and hit "Open" at the end. You should get a confirmation message,
that the entries have been imported into the registry afterwards.

1. 905915 (MS05-054) supersedes 896688 (MS05-052) so you don't need to
install the latter now.

2. If ActiveX/Flash problems persist after installing *all* Dec-05 updates
(including 905915 and 910437), post back.
