once and for all, what's up with apps screwing up msiexec.msi???

for some reason this seems to be a recurring problem throughout the
Windows' world - i've installed Acrobat Pro and the installer is messed
up - this time it's when i right-click that's calling "Windows
Installer" configuring Acrobat Installation. i've downloaded the
Installer Cleanup utility, but the last few times it hasn't done any
good.

This has even occurred on a brand new reinstall of Vista Ultimate.

as well, Itunes has created the same problem. nothing has helped, and i
don't know what else to do.

can someone tell me WHAT is causing this clearly not-uncommon problem
(there seems to be many people who encounter this annoyance)???

is there another way to fix this than the useless Cleanup Utility?
