I'm brand new to Windows Live OneCare (just installed it today). Running on
Vista 32. Executing my very first system scan and that has been running for
seven hours and still has my external drive to get to -- NAV would only take
about 45 minutes for a complete scan of the same system. What have I done
wrong???

I am not running OneCare now, but I remember doing a scan during the OneCare
2.0 Betas and it lasted for 5 hours. Are you sure its not doing multiple
task such as AV, AntiSpyware scans, Tune Up and Defragmentation? Have you
tried running the Antvirus scan in Safe Mode?

Carey has provided the direction to visit the forums for OneCare, but even
better would be to contact support.
OneCare does perform a deep scan and it can take several hours, but there have
suddenly been lots of reports of very lengthy scans, so I suspect that there is
a problem with the engine or definitions file. On the other hand, it is possible
that you have other active protection (antivirus/antispyware) enabled or
leftover after an uninstall before you installed OneCare, which would cause
OneCare to scan very slowly due to a conflict.

If it fails to validate your subscription, select the option that you are using
a trial or beta copy and you can proceed to email support without validation
once you've signed in.

I should have also mentioned that running it the first time will take very long since it builds a database on the first use.
