Open Files and Automatic Reboot

I turned on my monitor this morning and there was a message from the Windows
Security Center icon in the tray that Windows restarted due to an automatic
update.

There were two Notepad files open, both of which were new files, not yet
saved.

Does XP put that data somewhere, or is all that data lost?

I feel your pain. Sucks that it will reboot even if there are apps open with
unsaved data. Lost an hours work myself last night. Should have saved - but
then, neither should my PC reboot when it's in that state. Evil and stupid.
