It always does. How many email accounts have you got and which folder
does it "automatically" displays?

The clue is in the word "Automatically". I suggest go to Tools >>
Options and then see if there is any such word under "General" tab.

Add /mail to the target of the shortcut you use to launch the program (there's a space before the '/').

The target should look something like this:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Live\Mail\wlmail.exe" /mail

There have to be quotes enclosing the full path to the exe file because it contains spaces. If the quotes weren't there, the target would be read as C:\Program and you'd simply get an error message. Note that the (x86) will only be there on a 64-bit system.

Hi, Jeff.

As Noel said, the command line should look like:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Live\Mail\wlmail.exe" /mail

The " /mail" switch must be OUTSIDE the quotation marks, since it is not a
part of the FQN (Fully Qualified Name), including the full path to the
file - starting with C: and ending after the actual filename.ext.
