How to Open Multiple Files in Media Player

I want to open 2 different files in 2 different Windows Media Player
windows. When I try to open a second window/file, the first one closes.
How do I get 2 files to play at the same time? In this case, one file is a
..wma and the other is a .jpg. This ought to be simple, I would think, but
with Vista maybe not...

Thanks for any help.

I don't think even XP could do this, sorry.

Well, I guess I never even thought of that, and I'm amazed that that is the
case. I just downloaded a free little image viewer called Irfanview. With
it I can open as many image or sound files as I want at one time, which
generally is just 2. No longer any need to run Windows Media Player -
thanks for nothing MS!

I have just one question: Why on earth would you want to use Windows
Media Player to open JPG files when Vista already includes a superb
image viewer (Windows Photo Gallery)?.

If your JPG files are opening in WMP, then something (someone?) screwed
up the file associations.

And opening up multiple files in WMP is easy. Just open WMP, then
drag-and-drop however many media files you want from Explorer to WMP.
Really simple. Or, if you already have a selection of files in the WMP
playlist, just right-click on the media file/s you want to add, then
click "Add To Windows Media Player list".
