Thanks TaurArian. Amazingly, I just figured out an easy way tto fix it
myself! (Can't believe it!)
Just FYI for anyone out there who may experience the same problem: What I
did was, I downloaded the Google Desktop again and let it load onto the
computer, hoping to try and remove it again with better luck. Then after
downloading, I received a prompt that said "Google needed to finish
uninstalling the old program before installing the new one, and then restart
the computer." (Apparently, the problem was, the original Google Desktop
wasn't completely removed, possibly because it kept getting hung up and
crashing.) So, I let Google remove the rest of their original program by
running the Desktop installation again, but when it was time to restart the
computer and install the new one, I chose not to install Google.
Ultimately, this seemed to remove what was causing programs to open smaller
than the screen size without reinstalling Google, which really slowed down my
computer and caused it to crash (due to many other programs, like AOL
Security, launching during startup).
