I have found the keyboard shortcuts to be quite flaky in Vista's
explorer. I usually end up right-clicking and select Open or Explore
from the context menu (I am sure it is not random, but it seems to
be). Depending on where I clicked and what mood Vista is in that day,
I may or may not get the folder opening in a new menu. I miss the
reliability of click on a folder to open in the same window and
holding down Control when I click to open in a new window. I also
really, really, really miss using my backspace button to move up one
directory. Apparently you can use Windows-Up but that never seems to
have worked for me.
