Opening wps Documents in Works 9

I hope this is a suitable place for this posting. I cannot find any section
referring to Works or Software. I have recently transferred all my Windows 98
Works 4.5 wps documents to my Vista computer using Works 9. Whilst I cannot
open them in Works 9 (the Microsoft Works 4 converter does not work), I have
managed to save them as Rich Text and I can open them from the Documents
Folder but cannot edit them which I was able to do before. I can however open
them from a blank word processing document and edit them. If I save new
documents in Word wps format, I cannot open them from the Documents Folder as
I get a message telling me that "the file may be corrupted". Why can't I open
all documents from the Documents Folder and edit them?

Here's how to locate a Works discussion group through a web interface.

http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/en-us/

In the tree on the left, open English, then open Home and Entertainment. In
the Home and Entertainment subcategory, find and open the subcategory
forWorks, and find a group there for your post.
