optical mouse problem

i bought a mouse in sprint pcs. but when i connect it to the computer, it
doesnt do anything.i went back to the store, and the guy said that i needed
to update my computer. im looking for an update, and my computer is already
up to date. What can i do?

Visit the support web site of the manufacturer of your
mouse and download the correct software or drivers
compatible with your Windows operating system.
Look on the bottom of the mouse to determine the
manufacturer.
