I want people on my contact list to be able to send me instant messages that
are delivered to my mobile phone as text messages. I go to Tools: Options:
Phone and I see the option to "Allow people on my contact list to send
messages to my mobile device" and there's a check box to select to allow that
BUT the box is greyed out. It can't be checked. Is anyone aware of a
workaround or a reason why this option would be greyed out?

Hello,

are you registered at http://mobile.live.com/signup/Signup2.aspx and have
you set up an account there?

Yes. I had the site send me the confirmation message to my cell phone and I
entered that into the site. The site confirmed that I was set up, but the
option to allow contacts to send me instant messages on my phone is still
greyed out (not available). I found another post that said to try
uninstalling the latest version of Messenger and install an older version
(7.0), then active the option, then upgrade because there was a known issue
with the latest version of Messenger, but that didn't work either.
