I orderd the 64 bit version of Vista Home premium. I Bought the 32 bit
version $129 almost 2 weeks ago, I have been arguing with the so called
help department since:
1) June 18, 2009 on the web site they offered regular shipping(7-14
Bdays) and expediant Shipping(5-10 bdays), come to find out they do not
offer this anymore since almost six months(Website was out dated for 6
months?)
2) June 22, 2009 - So I call and very helpfull gentlemen reorderd it
for me and refunded my extra $6 for expediant shipping.
3) June 24, 2009 - Two days later, my order has not been updated, they
have no clue as to why, can take 72 hrs to process it FINE!
4) June 26, 2009 NOW it is 96 hrs since reorder, 132 hrs sine original
order, no update, gentlemen tells me he will look into it, aparently,
way over due (No Sh*t Sherlock)
5) June 29, 2009, 264hrs (11 days) since Original Order, 228 hrs (9
days) since re order....Gues what! no update, Warhouse has not called
help/Ordering department in 2 freaking days! OPPS WAIT, Man on phone
tells me "They have NO way to call Warehouse, Only can communicate via
EMAIL"!!!! do you believe this Sh*T!, Microsoft does not have PHONE at
thier warehouse? BULLSH*T!!!
So here I sit, Microsoft has had my money for 13 days(original
purchase) and another $10 for order of 64 bit Version for 10 days, and
I have NO 64 bit, no product except the 32 bit I DID not WANT!
What the H Am I suppose to do, If I want a refund for the 32 bit, I
have to pay for the postage to send it back, and then wait anther 5-10
days after they recieve it to get what? a check from them, which will
probably take another 3 days to clear?
Is it me or is something wrong here?
They did not let me wait 14 days to pay them for product?

Signed,
VERY UPSET CUSTOMER!!!

ow you can reset your account password from "Control Panel -> User Accounts".

Same thing can be done using Safe Mode. In Safe Mode Windows will show this in-built Administrator account in Login screen.

One of the benefits of buying your product in a physical shop. Call me old

14 Business days from the first time you commenced the process on June 18 is
actually approx July 8. (a business day is usually catagorised as Mon to
Fri).
So whatever your issue is you are still inside the window for he first order
you placed on June 18.
As regards only dealing with the shipping warehouse by e-mail this is very
common practice as warehouse staff do not have time to keep being diverted
from their roles to answer the phone and bulking up messages via e-mail
allows for a more ordered response AND tracking that the message was
actually , sent, received, read and then replied to.

Of course your own comment about you bought the 32-bit version that you "DID
not WANT" - begs the obvious question - why did you buy the wrong version in
the first place?
If you wanted the 64-but version of Home Premium OEM you could have bought
it ?- but your chose to buy the retail package (at greater cost to yourself)
and then deal with the replacement media service.
However you are still within the window of delivery for standard service
from your initial order, so no real point in getting upset (yet)

Not trying to defend for the company, but presumably, you purchased it from
its online store using a credit card, and in most cases, you are not charged
at the time of purchase until the next routine billing cycle of your credit
card company.

At the time of purchase, they just transmitted your payment information (via
secured mechanism) to the authorization center to verify if you have enough
credit to pay for the purchase.

But the actually charge normally will be done on the next billing cycle, but
of course, I am not sure if ALL banks are the same. And you don't need to
pay until you received your statement, so the chance is that you actually
may have more than 14 days to pay for it.

Hope this would make you feel better

The question I have to ask is why buy the 32 bit version when 64 bit was
required?

I had an item shipped recently on, well am going to say FedEx but could
have been UPS, and was notified that shipment data had been passed to
the carrier the same day it was ordered.

Followed the tracking every day and it never moved until the day before
the 5 day standard. In other words I ordered Saturday with 5 day
standard, the item did not move at all until Thursday and I finally got
it Friday night.

Am thinking that the OP is the victim of several such delays. If the MVP
stuff is anything to go by it doesn't actually come from Microsoft at
all, often is shipped direct from their contractor.

I would think so. After all, they are a software/technology company not a
shipping company, and I bet their management teams would know that

Another possibility is the miscommunication between the ordering center
(which sometimes is owned and operated by the product provider) and the
courier, and any node of the fulfillment chain has problems, customers will
not receive proper updates and delivery.

Not terribly surprising. A year ago when SP1 came out I bought the uptail
regrade Home Premium version, then ordered the 64 bit disk for $10. It
arrived some 10-14 days later. I installed on a home built media center, then
a couple of days later a second disk arrived that I didn't order. Now I have
two 64 bit disks but only paid for one. I guess they discovered the mistake
and didn't send yours in order to make up for the extra one they sent me!
