I use Community Bridge to access Newsgroups via WLM.

For the past couple of days I have been getting an error:

503 program fault - command not performed
System.ServiceModel.CommunicationException: An error occurred while
receiving the HTTP response to
http://services.answers.microsoft.co...umsService.svc.
This could be due to the service endpoint binding not using the HTTP
protocol. This could also be due to an HTTP requ

Configuration:
Account: Community Bridge
Server: 127.0.0.1
Protocol: NNTP
Port: 119
Secure(SSL): 0
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 503
Code: 800ccca4

Anybody else getting this?

Microsoft has stopped people using Community Bridge to read its forums
because they thought it was a security hell for them!!! Don't use it
anymore because you will only waste your time.

Microsoft Forums are designed to be read in a browser for security and
control purposes.

Not true. The Answers site (answers.microsoft.com) opened two weeks ago after a major redesign, which involved discontinuing the web
services on which the community NNTP bridges depended. So there is no longer any NNTP access to that site. The other Microsoft
forums (MSDN, TechNet, Expression, Microsoft) continue to be accessible via the bridge applications.

You need your brain to be examined boy! The OP said

"an error occurred while receiving the HTTP response to
http://services.answers.microsoft.com/ForumsServicePreview/ForumsService.svc"

Now read his message again (and again if necessary) and then come back
with your your proper reply again targeted with what OP asked NOT ANY
GENERAL ANSWER.

You're both right.

Although it's true I did report a connection error when using the Bridge, I
did not state that I was subscribed only to "Answers" forums because at the
time I did not realise it made any difference.

Thanks to both.

I got the exact same error message the same day Microsoft implemented the
Answers 2.0 forum update. I understand Microsoft is working with the
Community Bridge developer to update the NNTP bridge design so it will
work with the new version of the Answers forums.

Nice to know that MS is co-operating with the Community Bridge update (where
did you see this?).

I understand that MS has a Bridge of its own. Can't remember now why the
Community Bridge was preferred but wouldn't it make sense for MS to
improve/re-design its own Bridge rather than liaise with a third party?

Will await developments.

Well...
You said...
" Microsoft has stopped people using Community Bridge to read **its
forums** etc..."

Forums was plural and in reference to Microsoft (its) thus not specific to
only Answers.

Not sure if the brain needs to be examined, but the above would be a strong
candidate for PEBKAC.

You are correct pufta. Last time I used Answers via NNTP bridge there
were 1000s and so the term Forums (with an s at the end) was justified.

Have you booked any appointment with your brain surgeon yet? You do
need to have a complete check-up because there is ample evidence that
puftas or some say queers like you do have serious mental problems! In
Libya and Egypt they knew how to deal with queers like you.
