Hi all,

As reported in my response to a previous post [titled WM5 on Ipaq hz2415],
my Dell Axim X51v (WM5 + AS4) suffers from constant problems when trying to
turn it on after I press the power button and wait for a number of minutes.
To overcome this problem, I need to do a soft reset to get it running again.
Sometimes when I cradle my Pocket PC, I also get the dreaded "white screen",
and only soft reset gets me out of this one.

I spoke with Dell tech. support today and their reply is that there is a
firmware problem and they are in discussions with Microsoft to try to
resolve this issue. They will be issuing a firmware patch in due course.

In the meantime, a hint by a Dell tech. support staff member seems to have
provided a temporary workaround - it prevents this power button and white
screen problem, at least on my Dell Axim X51v. The "trick" is to simply
enable Bluetooth (Start -> Settings -> Connections tab -> Bluetooth) and tap
on the "Turn on Bluetooth" so that it is ticked. Although the Bluetooth
flashing blue light becomes active, it seems to be a good workaround to
these problems until the firmware patch is issued.

I just thought I would let Dell Axim X51v owners know of this workaround on
this forum though I know this forum is really for ActiveSync issues.

Regards,
Neville Lang

Must be a good hint, mate. I always have Bluetooth on and never have the
problem. :-)
