This has been a problem for a while. Outlook 2000 does
not sync with my Pocket PC (using Activesync) after the
first week of installation. I would have to uninstall
Outlook and then reinstall it for it to work (for another
week). I do not change anything, it just randomly happens.

Make sure you are running the latest version of ActiveSync (from
http://www.pocketpc.com). Also, are you running any other programs that
may be interfering with Outlook or changing Outlook?

I am running the latest version of Activesync. It is just
that after like the first week, Activesync comes up with
an error message saying that it can't access the necessary
information. I made a mistake, because it didn't work
after reinstalling it. Please help, and also it worked
the first week, and I didn't run any other programs that i
normally run. Please help. Thanx!

Did you install anything like Netscape/Mozilla, Eudora, etc.? Try
running the program FIXMAPI.EXE (do a search for it) and see if that
helps.

I ran FixMAPI.exe and it did nothing. I tried to sync up
after "running" it (since there was no visible activity
after running it) and it still did not work. I did not
change anything within that week, so I don't understand
why it suddenly did not work. Btw, my Outlook is SP-3,
and when SP-1a came out for it, i think there was an issue
with syncing up. But that wouldn't explain why it worked
for the first week and not the next. Please help, and
thanx Rob Borek for responding!

Can you try a complete uninstall of Outlook and ActiveSync, then
reinstall Outlook, install SP3 for Outlook and all other patches, then
reinstall ActiveSync.

Hi,

See if this MSKB article helps ---

http://support.microsoft.com/?id=195507

Also delete the partnership prior doing this. To delete a partnership ---

1. Disconnect the PPC from the computer.
2. In Activesync -> File -> Delete Partnership.
3. Try switching the installation type as explained in the MSKB.
4. Reboot the computer.
5. Connect the PPC and follow the onscreen instructions to setup a new
partnership.

I hope this information helps !!

Ok, first of all, THANX SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH. THIS
WORKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM FOR ME FOR SOOOOO LONG,
THANX!!! Now, the next question for you is: it was on Internet only, and I
changed it to the Corporate/Workgroup one. My PPC would now work properly
with Outlook. The strange thing is I switched it back to Internet only, and
it also worked. How come it worked with both? I did not delete the
partnership when I switched it back to Internet only, but I did when I was
first switching it to Corporate/Workgroup like you said. If you could,
please answer that question, but THANX RAJ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi,

Very glad your problem is sorted.

Both modes install a different set of Messaging Application Program
Interface (MAPI). MAPI provides messaging services to other applications.
MAPI installed in the Internet only mode provides minimal MAPI support for
the basic functionality of Microsoft Outlook. It is not mandatory to delete
the partnership if you switch between the two. My suggestion was to ensure
that a fresh partnership is created.

I suggest you refer to the following sites for more info abt the difference
between the modes.
