I had a similar problem (different junk mail patch) and several other updates
that were all hanging and not installing, for weeks. In my case the failed
updates all concerned Office (even the junk mail patch), and I traced the
problem to a no longer existing disk drive letter (I got error 1327 - invalid
drive). If you have changed your disk configuration/partitions recently then
you might also try this:
- download the LIS tool
http://update.microsoft.com/windowsu...=en&IsMu=False
- run the LIS tool, and select "Move the LIS to a different drive"
Having selected a new drive letter (I chose C, to keep it simple), I
downloaded the junk mail patch file manually (saved it locally, then ran it).
e.g. see
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/925254
It needed a missing dll (I just had to put my Office CD in the CD drive),
and that was it. The other downloads all installed after that without a
problem.
