Outlook 2003, XP and Active Sync

I have XP, but just used Outlook 2002 (it was provided
with the phone) with my Pocket PC Phone Edition. I
purchased Office 2003 and upgraded. Since then the sync
doesn't create a partnership. I've uninstalled and
reinstalled (although I'm not sure I really uninstalled
Outlook - I got the impression the procedure just turned
it off) and it still won't create a partnership.

I've replaced the cradle and the phone. That's not the
problem. It works on another computer, so I really know
it's not the problem. I pressed the soft and hard reset
many times.

When I put the phone in the cradle the system recognizes
it's there, the green wheel spins, but I don't have a
partnership. Yes, I've tried "get connected"
and "connection settings."

Any ideas. T-Mobile is unable to help and I really liked
this when it worked. Oh, when I uninstalled outlook 2003
and reinstalled Office 2002 it still won't create the
parntership. And yes, I follow the instruction with
activesync and install it only after the outlook is
installed, then plugging in the cradle and putting the
phone in. I got that create partnership wizard once when
I first purchased it, but like I mentioned above,
upgrading to outlook 2003 seems to have done something.

Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Just was reading some of the ActiveSync "readme" files.
Outlook 2003 is not listed as compatible. Is it possible
that's the problem and T-Mobile support just didn't know
that?

Hi,
If you install ActiveSync 3.7.1 from Microsoft's website -
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobi...ivesync37.mspx it
supports Office 2003 and the T-Mobile Phone Edition.

Just FYI, I am using active sync with XP pro and outlook 2003 but with an
ipaq. No trouble from the XP and outlook 2003 combo.

Group,
I just created a new Outlook 2003 PST file using the new "Unicode" file
support for larger databases. (Mine is about 1 GB) I imported all my old PST
data into it. I am now having problems using active sync. Both my PPC's (one
2003 and one 2002) seem to hang while syncing.

Hi Phillip,

Have you installed ActiveSync 3.7.1 ? If you have upgraded to Outlook 2003,
then you need to reinstall ActiveSync.
