Outlook 2007 Syncronizing Folders

As many other users stated in many Forums, periodically, Outlook goes into a
sync mode and the computer freezes. Nothing else works during that time.
I do not recall that happening with Outlook 2002 and XP. Now I have a Vista
Home Premium and running Office 2007.
This is my home computer, not running with a Server. What is syncronizing
and how can I disable it?
