Outlook and AS

I'm confused about the relationship between Outlook (2002 in my case)
and AS. If I have my PPC cradled, is it normal (essential?) for
Outlook to remain running too?

Often I'm surprised to find OUTLOOK.EXE in the XP Task Manager, long
after I've used Outlook to create a new task or whatever and closed
it.

Sometimes (not always!) when I then start Outlook again from its
shortcut, it doesn't work. I have to go to TM and kill it then try
again.

This link offers a good summary as to why the outlook.exe remains open even
though Outlook is closed.

http://www.slipstick.com/problems/close.asp

Specifically -

"The following is a short list of add-ins which are reported to keep Outlook
running after it's closed.
a.. WinFax Pro. Disable WinFax or remove the WinFax Fax log from the
profile. Remove them by opening Tools, Options, Mail Setup tab, Data Files
and delete if present.
b.. ActiveSync (especially when a PDA is cradled)
c.. Blackberry software "

This still happens occasionally with Outlook 2003, but the frequency is much
less than my experiences with Outlook 2002.

HTH,

Sean C

Thanks Sean. Reckon in this case then that the cause is simply my PPC
in the cradle.
