Dear Friends,

I have bought a new laptop which has VistaBusiness and is in my office
domain. I am trying to access my outlok from home by connecting Cisco
VPN but outlook shows disconnected. The same i do on my sony Vaio old
notebook and it works fine.

Is there something i need to do. Please suggest.

Waiting eagerly to fix this problem.

Regards,

Prado

Hi Prado

Your best option is probably to contact the IT support folks at your
company. Ask them to help configure the Cisco VPN Client on your new laptop.

I would like to help you, myself. But the problem you are seeing could
be caused by many different things. It is very difficult to troubleshoot
this kind of configuration issue via a newsgroup. A solution could
depend on the security settings on the Cisco VPN Router; the IP
addressing your corporate network uses; the Exchange Server; firewall,
or many other things.

As you have a working laptop (the Sony Vaio) and the not-working laptop
(the new Vista one): you can also compare the configurations
side-by-side, and see what is different between them.

To make a VPN connection, you will need a current Version of the Cisco
VPN Client installed on your Vista laptop. The windows Firewall in Vista
will also need to allow VPN connections to pass through. Normally the
Cisco VPN software will make this adjustment for you, when you install
it (but it is good to check).

Good luck,

Andrew

The laptop works fine in the office because you are on the network and not
using VPN. As mentioned by Andrew, there are several problems that might be
occurring. Typically, your IT department preconfigures the VPN with the
proper settings and security certificates. Most likely one of these settings
are wrong and there is absolutely nothing you can do to make it right unless
you have the proper network settings and security certificate.

hi prado

i had this issue with my work machine too but did not realie what i
could be till a month later. It turned out to be my home ip address poo
being the same class as the one at mywork. eg:192.168.1.19 at home an
192.168.1.37 at work. So when the vpn connects thorugh to work, outloo
gets confused at which network to look at.

so i changed my home's lan pool address to a 10.0.0.0 pool an
bang, outlook connected. my old work laptop went fine, and that is stil
a mystery to me

i hope this helps

regards

ib
