outlook express emails

I receive emails that have an attachment message5.txt
no matter what I do I can't open it
if I click on it it opens a blank page in notebook, but if I forward it
other people can open it, why can't I? I've even tried forwarding it to
myself in hotmail and I still can't open it

Are you sure these are valid attachments? Have you contacted the sender?

Also, note that this is a group for Windows Update issues.You will probably

If this group isn't carried on your news server, try using
msnews.microsoft.com (MS's public news server, the source for all the
microsoft.public newsgroups).

to get to the Internet Explorer groups, then click the plus sign next to
your version of IE to see the link to the Outlook Express group for that
version number.
