You might have faired better (if I understood what you did - moved all
subfolders instead of messages) if after creating the Live account (and
adding it to the Outlook Connector in Outlook) that you created the folders
in the Live ID account (in the Connector or the web UI) then moved
**messages** in smaller batches from a single Outlook's folder to the newly
created folder (in account in the Hotmail Connector) and repeated the
process for messages in other folders...one folder at a time)
With 1.7GB of messages, a substantial amount of indexing has to occur, even
with less indexing and sync has to occur. A short description follows of
what happens.
- Outlook has to index them all to the Live ID account in Outlook (unlike
Outlook profile *.pst file [not psd], a Hotmail connector account is stored
in an *.ost file)
- Outlook Connector has to sync up to the Live server
- Windows Live servers (for the Live ID account) and the Outlook Connector
has to reconcile everything at both ends so data is common, thus a fair
amount of back/forth sync results until all is done.
Eventually WLM (if that is the end choice for the email client) will have
to create its own index once the Live ID email account is configured for
DeltaSync in WLM. (so, be prepared to wait some more)
If the end objective in WLM is not use the Live ID email address, the best
place for those messages would be in WLM's storage folders instead of a
different email account (the one she probably received the original
messages in OL10)..if so then WLM has a substantial index to build to get
the messages off the Live Server and into its message store and then later
re-index into its Storage folders.
Regardless, 1.7GB is a lot to push up, back down to Outlook, the Connector,
and later to WLM.
From a personal use standpoint, I'd much rather be managing 1.7GB of
messages in Outlook 2010 than WLM due to OL10's superior features of data
management.

Sorry if this is slightly off-topic but in some way it does tangend Windows
Live (Mail).
A friend of mine uses MS Office Outlook 2010 and wants to migrate the
subfolders of her eMail Accounts to Windows Live Mail.
As there is no proper way to export Outlook messages to WLM (yes the .PSD
file of outlook can be read with some 3rd party progs but this is not what
i
want),
i installed the Hotmail Connector plugin for Outlook and created a LIVE
eMail address and now i moved all the subfolders (of the .psd file) into
the
new LIVE account and ...
.... all works - Outlook (Connector) is properly beginning to sync
everything.
But strangly : the ammount of eMails yields to about 1,7 GB which is large
but for about 48 hours my computer now is syncing,
my ADSL up-stream is congested with approx. 0,4 kbit/s so by now everything
should be done.
When i log into the live account by webbrowser, i already see some of the
eMails so i am convinced t hat the sync works,
but can anyone tell me why it takes so long?
greetings
