outlook not saving passwords.

i recently upgraded to vista and installed outlook 2002 on my new machine,
however, outlook 2002 will not save the passwords i enter for my email
settings meaning everytime i open outlook i have to re-enter my email
passwords. the boxes are always ticked to save the passwords but to no avail.
has anyone had this problem and what can i do to rectify this.
