Outlook upgrade 2000 to 2003: items from 2000 does not sync to PPC

I have been struggling for days now!..;-)
Bought a new Windows Mobile WM 5.0 and need to sync with Outlook 2003. I
upgraded from Outlook 2000 to 2003 and all contacts etc worked fine on my PC
and the Palm I used before synced perfect. Uninstalled all Palm related and
installed Activesync 4.1, and thought it would be a breeze....not!
5 days later, IT dept at work hates me and no luck!
I tried on my work pc, that runs XP Pro and 2003 and synced beautifully. But
my home pc with XP Home not!
Have uninstalled and installed Outlook & Activesync several times, tried
Outlook 2002 aswell, started fresh and copied in my old .pst, started fresh
and open datafile and copied individual contacts to my contact folder, but
no!

The strange thing is that a few contacts that I entered after the 2000 to
2003 upgrade sync to my MDA...that nice little thing has had soft resets and
a couple of hard resets...
Searched high and low on the net for similar problem but no!

It seems like the old items cannot be synced, but why? And how to "convert"
them to 2003 format...?

I start to regret I moved to Windows Mobile...but needed device with
phone/pda with wi-fi, Palm missed that train with the Treo 650...

Any help appreciated enormously!

Hi,
You can try exporting the contacts and then reimporting them. The problem
could be related to the way the contacts were entered. Other users have
reported similar problems with 3rd party applications that import or sync
contacts with Outlook.

Thanks Chris
I have exported and reimported. No change. I tried another pst file created
in 2003, imported that into my outlook and there was no change!

I have seen somewhere in this group that it could be only 1 or a few items
that cause the sync to completely fail...When syncing I have the spinning,
and the progress bar completes very fast and I get no error message.

Hi All,

I ma having a similar problem I think. I have jsut received a Dell Axim
(replacing my Palm). On my laptop (XP Home), I can establish an Activesync
connection and sync non Outlook infomation, and explore the device. But it
does not sync with Outlook. The sync screen is up, but nothing happens in the
status of each of these Outlook folders. I've run scanpst, & detect and
repair. I've also created a new user, run Outlook to create a new pst file,
and the same thing happens (or doesn't happen!). It won't even sync new items
I entered. It just appears to hang. And when I stop it, it also 'hangs'.

The thing is, the whole process works fine with my desktop (XP Pro).

Any help??

Raj from Sydney
