Whoah!!!! Let's back up a bit..
It's extremely important when posting in a public forum that correct terminology is used(initial request or acquired in the course
of subsequent responses).
Windows Live = all Live services and application software under the Windows Live 'umbrella'
The following are the primary Windows Live services
Account - account.live.com
Profile - profile.live.com
Skydrive - skydrive.live.com
Contacts - contacts.live.com or people.live.com (both resolve to the same destination)
Calendar - calendar.live.com
Photos - photos.live.com
Hotmail - mail.live.com or hotmail.com (both resolve to the same destination and called Windows Live Hotmail)
** Only Live ID's using Hotmail type accounts(Hotmail.com, Live.com, Msn.com) have a 'mail' Inbox. Third party email addresses
registered as a Live ID(e.g. gmail, yahoo, your isp) do not have a mail Inbox but they do have access to the other above services.
The following are the primary Windows Live applications(installable software)
Windows Live Mail (locally installed desktop email client)
Windows Live Messenger (instant messaging)
Windows Live PhotoGallery (photo viewer, organizer, and editor)
Windows Live Writer (blogging)
Windows Live Movie Maker (create, burn, publish movies to your pc/external media/external web site)
Windows Live Sync (automatic file sync/share across multiple computers)
Windows Live Toolbar (toolbar for Internet Explorer)
Windows Live Family Safety (parental control for web surfing)
Outlook Connector(more recently renamed as the Hotmail Connector for Office 2010)
Office Live Add-In (free online storage and sharing of documents; works with Excel, Word, Powerpoint)
NOTE: A mail account associated with a Hotmail type account(hotmail, live, and/or msn.com) can not be deleted from the server.
Hotmail type accounts(hotmail, live, and/or msn.com) are capable of using two different protocols for sending/receiving mail in
Windows Live Mail and Outlook
Pop3 - Windows Live Mail and Outlook (Outlook Connector not required for Outlook)
Http - Windows Live Mail and Outlook(Outlook Connector required for Outlook and applicable only to Outlook versions 03/07/10)
To make it easier for everyone to help you...when referencing the all encompassing term 'Windows Live' it helps to be specific for
two important reasons.
1. we can best understand your request or problem
2. we don't provide incorrect information
As an example...it would help if we knew the type of protocol in use(pop3 or http) and where(Windows Live Mail, Outlook, or the
Outlook Connector) for each Hotmail type account....since account removal in one may have different results than removal in
another..e.g. deleting not only the account but messages!
