Outlook2010 64-Bit does not Sync

Hi there,

just installed Office2010 64Bit on my Desktop.
(Clean Install of Windows7 64-Bit Pro, no other Email-Software, not even
Windows Live Mail)

Sadly it says when my mobile phone (HTC Touch Diamond 2) is connected:
(Google Translate from German)
"there is no default email client available, or the current mail client can
not fulfill the messaging requirements. Run Microsoft Outlook and set Outlook
as default email client"

I tested 32Bit Outlook2010 on my Laptop - it works fine with sync - but not
the 64Bit Version.
Already read the complaints of other German users in the web - nobody seems
to have an answer.

It seems as this is a Windows Mobile Device Center Problem as this is not
64-Bit.

As I heard there always were problems with this - already on Vista 64Bit.

"Use the 32 Bit Version" is somewhat unsatisfying.

Which product group do you think would be the best to access to?
Windows Mobile Device Center?
Outlook?
Office?

I was going to provide basically the same respose as Todd. As he said, 2010
is still in Beta. I would expect that the ultimate solution would need to
come from the WMDC folks, as they would need to interface correctly with the
new version (and 64b version) of Outlook, rather than the other way round. I
would expect that they would be currently engaged in the process/upgrade as
their colleagues are proceeding on Outlook/Office. I can dream. I do think
that we won't see an official new release of WMDC until Office 2010 is
final, much like any other 'third' party program that accesses office
elements. If you have the opportunity to influence any group at MS, I would
start with the WMDC shop. We would all appreciate it, because, as you said,
resorting to 32b, to accomodate a MS Windows Mobile product, is just not an
acceptable option.

Can you please help me answer these following questions that came up when I
read your thoughts:

1. Is Windows Mobile Device Center really a 3rd Party App?
2. What is the WMDC Shop?
3. Where would I find the Product Group or company that is currently working
on the WMDC? (blog, site, ...)

Todd added some thoughts as well. No WMDC isn't a third party app, except in
the terms that MS is so big they sometimes lose sight of internal
collaboration. AFAIK the folks responsible for WMDC aren't part of the
Office crowd (Outlook) or the Windows Mobile crowd. They are separate,
maybe part of the OS group? That is what I mean by the WMDC shop, that
group of developers, and layers of management that are responsible for
generating WMDC and interfacing with both the Office and WM teams (and Media
Player as well). Your last question is the kicker. Wish I knew the answer to
that. I am going to be at MS in Feb visiting the WM developers, and may have
some opportunity to talk to Outlook folks. I will try to hunt down the WMDC
folks and kick, err, speak to them. I still have hope that it is an issue
largely because of the Beta nature of Office 2010. It seems like it is the
first version that actually has a 64b version? Given that the WMDC guys
haven't had to worry about this before, and may be cautious in releasing
anything before Office is closer to release (stable).

I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one with this problem, and incredibly
grateful that there seems to be a workaround.

I am more than willing to use the 32-bit but i can't seem to figure out how
to do that :-( Do you know how to get the 32-bit version? The website doesn't
seem to offer that as an option to download.

ans office 2010 32bit
still i can't sync

i got the message

"Cannot synchronize with the Outlook profile you are using, because a different profile was previously set up or the profile is password-protected.
Please open Outlook using the appropriate profile."

do u have any advice to solve the problem ?

still i can't sync

i am using win 7 64bit
and office 2010 32 bit

still i can't sync, i got the response
"Cannot synchronize with the Outlook profile you are using, because a different profile was previously set up or the profile is password-protected.
Please open Outlook using the appropriate profile."

do u have ant advice to solve the problem
