Owning and editing multiple .ics files

My wife and I share the same Vista computer with two logins. We use
the public folder area to share information between the two accounts
back and forth and we are both administrators of the machine.

She recently setup 3 calendar (.ics) files in the public space for
birthdays and other such events. I subscribed to them in my Vista
calendar and low and behold they show up all in different colors. Very
cool I thought.

Then I tried to add an appointment to one of these shared calendars
and I can't. I find I can only add appointments to my one calendar
even though the permissions on the file have both of us as admin with
full rights to the files.

Any idea why?
