I've had this and other Security Update issues with XP2 and now XP3.
This is nothing new and Microsoft is aware of the problem. I've spent
many, many hours with tech assistance and it should be on their radar.
Let me know if anyone finds a fix for this. Thanks.

I have the same issue. Sent email to tech support.. I will wait and see what
happens. This is the first time I have a problem with any update.
