So is it impossible to download music files with Vista? I've tried Limewire,
MP3Rocket and Soulseek and i am unable to even connect to their networks
despite uninstalling my anti-virus software.

Don't know where you're posting from, but here in Canada the major ISP
providers (Bell, Rogers, and Shaw I believe) have throttled all P2P
connections. Bit Torrent may still be an option.

Nothing to do with Vista as P2P worked well for me until they started
this crap.

The OP is posting from the U.S. (New Jersey). Some ISPs have started
that here as well. I'm glad. Cable Internet access uses nodes where
many users might be on a single node.

Rabid downloaders use more than their fair share of bandwidth.

I really wouldn't consider myself a rabid downloader. Not trying to download
movies or whole albums even. Just a few songs from time to time from albums
that aren't good enough to buy the whole thing or that are hard to find. I
see on other posts that i'm not the only one who is having this problem. Just
haven't found anyone offering a bona fide solution.

The point is: if your ISP is throttling downloads, there IS no
solution.
