My PC runs XP while my new laptop runs Vista...Of course, as you know, we no
longer get recovery discs with nes pc's or laptops....I have had 5 attempts
to burn a recovery disc on to dvd but so far have been unsuccessful. It burns
the disc...then ejects it...then asks to re-insert it. Then it checks it
right through to 100%..hangs on for a short while ans ejects it again stating
"unsuccessful...insert a blank recordable disc".....Any ideas please? I've
requested a solution from Packade but have not as yet received a
reply...Thanks.

Hi Telboy

Don't know if a laptop is set the same as my PB desktop, but you MAY have
"back to out of the box" files squirreled away in a secret location on the
HDD.

On Boot, repeatedly hit F12 and a menu comes up with "Recover from HDD" or
similar. Select this option to start recovery.

Of course this does not solve your bad disk problem. {

A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely
foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

I gave up after several wasted DVDs I bought a copy from HP. For $15 you can
get the factory discs, which I think should have come with the computer like
they used to, but they didn't and since I believe them to be necessary I
gave HP the money for the recovery discs.

Start by trying a different brand of media and a different drive.
If you can control the burn rate, try a slower speed.

Consider returning the computer if they are unable to quickly resolve
the issue.

Have you checked to see if it's OK to use a DVD? My laptop required me
to burn the recovery disc(s) onto CDs.
